What Is the Standard Calendar Size?

There is no single standard calendar size, but the most common wall calendar sizes in India are A3 (297 x 420 mm), A4 (210 x 297 mm) and 12 x 12 inches (305 x 305 mm) when closed. Desk calendars are smaller, and pocket calendars are about 3.5 x 6 inches (89 x 152 mm).

Wall Calendar Sizes

Wall calendars are the biggest format, and the size you pick decides how much space each date has for notes. Quapri's custom wall calendar comes in Medium (30 x 20 cm) and Large (43 x 28 cm), with 13 pages: a cover and one page for each month.

1. A3 wall calendar

A3 is 297 x 420 mm (11.7 x 16.5 inches). It is a popular size for offices and shared spaces because each date box is large enough to write in. It needs a wall space of about 30 x 42 cm.

2. A4 and 8 x 11 inch wall calendar

A4 is 210 x 297 mm (8.3 x 11.7 inches). The 8 x 11 inch format (203 x 279 mm) is close to it. These sizes suit smaller walls, a spot beside a desk, or a home where a photo calendar should not take over the room.

3. 12 x 12 inch square wall calendar

The 12 x 12 inch square (305 x 305 mm) is the usual size for photo calendars. It is a square when closed, and many hang at 12 x 24 inches when open, so measure the space for the opened size.

4. 18 x 12 inch landscape wall calendar

A landscape calendar of 18 x 12 inches (457 x 305 mm) fits wide, low spaces such as above a sofa or a long desk, and suits panoramic photos.

Desk and Table Calendar Sizes

Desk calendars are usually a small page on a stand, with sizes from about 4 x 6 inches up to A5 (148 x 210 mm). Pick the size by desk depth, so the calendar does not block the screen or keyboard. Closed Size vs Open Size: How to Read a Calendar Dimension

A calendar's listed size is usually its closed size, and the open (hanging) size is larger. A 12 x 12 inch calendar often opens to 12 x 24 inches, and a letter-size 8.5 x 11 inch calendar can open to 11 x 17 inches, depending on how it is bound. Always ask which size is quoted, and measure your wall for the open size.

How to Choose the Right Calendar Size

By the space you have

Measure the width and height of the spot, add a few centimetres of clearance, and compare with the open size. As a rule of thumb, A3 and larger suit reception areas and shared walls, and A4 or 12 x 12 inches suit a home or a single desk.

By how it will be used

If people will write on it, choose a size with large date boxes, such as A3 or 11 x 17 inches. If it is mainly for photos, choose a square or landscape format that shows each photo large.

By how many you need

File Setup for Printing: Bleed, Margins and Resolution

Set up your file at the exact print size, with a bleed (extra image area beyond the trim edge, commonly 3 mm) so that no white edge shows after cutting.
